BECOMING A LEADER OF LEADERS COACHING

Our Becoming a Leader of Leaders Coaching program is designed for leaders who are moving or have moved into more senior leadership positions where instead of managing front-line teams, they are managing other leaders.

From leading people who are doing the work to leading other leaders

Once you have the title manager or team leader its easy to think ‘okay I've got this leadership thing’. But the next step to the leader of other leaders is actually as big a change. It requires more growth in our mindset and changes in our leadership way of being and practices. The role of leader of leaders moves an individual even further away from the doing of the work into the more complex and ambiguous world of shaping and coordinating business outcomes entirely through engaging the imaginations, mindsets and way of being of others.

Thriving in the ambiguous world of shaping and coordinating business outcomes

Despite many people thinking that more senior leadership roles come with more power and so are easier, the experience of people transitioning into these roles is that it feels like you have a lot less control. The line between action and outcomes goes from being clear and obvious to being vague, messy and complex. This is because now the individual is almost totally reliant on other people to get things done. They are now in the role where they are designing and shaping the system of work. It is quite a step up from being a front-line leader.

Program Outcomes

Our Becoming a Leader of Leaders Coaching program helps good leaders grow into great leaders of other leaders. Through our coaching program people will:

  • Understand how being a leader of leaders is quite different from being a first-line leader.
  • Understand the growth and shift in mindset, way of being and practices required to become an effective leader of leaders.
  • Make the changes in mindset, way of being and practices necessary to make the shift to the leader of leaders.
  • Explore the potential barriers to change and re-learning that they may currently have and develop a more open, learning way of being so that they can operate effectively in a more demanding, complex and ambiguous leadership contexts.
  • Take specific targeted actions to grow as a leader of leaders and so achieve important business outcomes.

Program Components

The typical duration of the Becoming a Leader of Leaders program is 6-10 months depending on how frequently the coaching sessions are scheduled. The Program includes:

  • One hour program setup meeting with the coachee, their leader and Ian to agree the goals and approach to the program.
  • Ten x 1.5 hour coaching sessions. Coaching sessions can be conducted face to face or via video-link or a combination of different methods agreed with the individual.
  • One hour program review with the coachee, their leader and Ian to assess progress and plan future development.
  • Additional programs can be purchased as required.
